Régie Culturelle Régionale
The Régie culturelle régionale, a valuable asset for the Région Sud - Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, supports amateur and professional clients in the cultural sector and is involved in the development and cultural promotion of the region.
It assists all live entertainment professionals and supports projects from teams of artists to present new works.
Its assistance with distribution comes in the form of enabling shows to tour bistrots in the Bistrots de Pays network, via the “Scènes de Bistrots” campaign and creating practical editorial tools dedicated to the performing arts.
To encourage the creation and distribution of performing arts in the Région Sud of France, the Régie culturelle régionale has developed a new digital tool for managing event venues: Scènes au Sud.
This tool, which is designed to assist show distributors, artists, technicians and institutions, lists not only the equipment devoted to hosting live entertainment (theatre, dance, music, etc.) but also the open-air venues and multi-purpose venues that are suitably equipped all year round and are regularly available for hosting shows.
A stock of entertainment equipment and regional branches
The Régie culturelle régionale has a stock of entertainment equipment that allows amateur and professional clients from the cultural sector (artists, associations, cultural operators, collectivities, etc.) looking to organise a show or any cultural event aimed at the general public to seek advice and borrow technical entertainment equipment, by reservation, at a very reasonable price.
The Régie culturelle régionale, alongside its branches dotted throughout the Région Sud, performs a valuable public service and offers high-performance technical equipment: sound systems, lighting, podiums, rows of seats and lighting rigs, pianos, dance mats and stages, etc.
This equipment symbolises the Région Sud - Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur’s commitment to providing technical assistance and to helping ensure that cultural events are distributed more widely across the whole region.
In total, there are over 20,000 items listed online and available for anyone involved with culture in the region by reservation.

In order to make the users of its stock of entertainment equipment more familiar with the technical and safety issues involved in entertainment, the Régie culturelle régionale organises technical initiations 4 times a year in collaboration with ISTS Avignon (Entertainment Techniques Institute).
Anyone who is a member of an association that organises shows can attend these initiations.
Visiting artists: there are work spaces at your disposal
Throughout the year, the Régie culturelle régionale supports new entertainment by hosting regional artists looking to explore new avenues of creation, prepare a recording or add the finishing touches to a show.
The peculiarity of this space, located in Bouc-Bel-Air (Bouches-du-Rhône, France), is that it offers conditions for rehearsing that are identical to those of a small-capacity theatre. It is especially suitable for rehearsing ‘cabaret’-style shows and showcases, and is configured like a recording studio.
The Régie culturelle régionale can also supply additional stage equipment over and above the permanent sound and lighting setup.
Following an initiative from the Région Sud, the Régie (Regional cultural agency) has created a space for testing and finalising shows in order to stimulate new regional entertainment, in Bouc-Bel-Air (Bouches-du-Rhône, France).
This working room (a black box measuring 240 m2) is ideal for hosting and assisting technical and artistic teams: it is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and has considerable technical resources for exploring various configurations in terms of sound, lighting, staging and video recording.
It also features dressing rooms and a warm-up room.
In 2017, the initiative hosted 98 artistic teams and their projects. This means that the Régie (Regional cultural agency) has hosted 729 projects and 647 artistic teams since 2009.
